Match report Meigle welcomed Forthill to Victory Park on Saturday hoping to build on last weeks win over Arbroath.
After winning the toss in glorious conditions Drummy decided to bat first and put the runs on the board first. Pre match preparations were put in turmoil when it was discovered that Wim had dropped the carrot cake on the way to the ground, this contributed to his batting position of number 11.
Drummy opened the batting with the returning Callum Leese and together they put on 70 in 22 overs, with Callum fighting hard to find form in his first knock of the season and he deserved great credit for not giving it away on his way to a gutsy 17. After he departed the latest finger victim, Raif, joined the skipper in another healthy stand and the pair took the total to 122-1. At this point Meigle looked set for a total of 200 plus but as so often happens in the union the forthill spinners proved difficult to get away. Despite 19 from Arun and the skipper reaching his first league century for Meigle, the innings never really kicked on and Meigle finished on 194-7.
The Forthill reply could not have gotten off to a better start for Meigle as Jamie had the opener caught behind off the very first ball and followed that up by claiming a second wicket two balls later, Ricky clinging onto a good catch at mid off. Meigle took the foot off the gas a bit though and some wayward bowling and good batting took forthill to 110-2. Meigle got the breakthrough they craved when Andy bowled the dangerous McCandless for 53 and shortly after Scott had Martin caught by Deadly on the deep square boundary and Meigle were well back in the game.
The bowling again got a little indisciplined and an aggressive knock from Salisbury, well supported by Martin jnr, took the game away from Meigle.
There was still time for Drummy to join the casualty list, taking one in the hooter from a deflection. Forthill duly passed the total with 4 wickets remaining and Meigle were left to reflect on another close game lost.
