DHSFP v Meigle Cricket Club First XI on Sat 15 May 2010 at
Meigle Cricket Club Lost by 96 runs

Match report It was a Meigle team with both lots of youth and lots of experience, but not a lot in between, that contested saturday's league encounter against Dundee High School Former Pupils. The ten men and their 99 fingers took to the field in sunny but cool conditions, a man light due to Wim being stuck at a cake baking competition in Crieff. Deadly produced another supremely accurate spell of bowling spoiled only by breaking his pinkie dropping a c and b chance off of his penultimate delivery. This reduced the number of fingers in the outfield to a worrying 98! Some impressive fielding and controlled bowling by Meigle reduced the Heh School to 55-5 and a shock was on the cards. A determined partnership of 88 between Dinesh Bailwal and Les Milne developed however and despite the best efforts of the Meigle attack, by now including the returning Clark, a daunting total of 169 faced the batsmen at tea.


The Meigle reply never really got going as our batting woes continued and guys found some wierd and wonderfull ways to get themselves out. Tom was bowled around his legs, Jamie mo missed a straight one and Ricky decided a game of hokey cokey was required and was duly stumped. Only a hard grafted partnership between the brave Christie and the solid looking Craig staved off complete embarassment as the visitors ended 73 all out. Special mention to Clarky who continued his superb form with the bat ending his innings with a strike rate of 300!

Here's hoping for our first win of the season up at Dyce this coming Saturday where it is expected Bill Morrison will arrive by air ambulance at tea time to deal with the usual finger fractures.
