Meigle Cricket Club First XI v stoneywood/dyce on Sat 19 May 2012 at 1300
Meigle Cricket Club Won by 9 wkts

Match report Meigle recorded their first victory of the season with a resounding win over reigning champions Stoneywood Dyce.
With the outfield looking in pristine condition, having been trimmed at 3 45am, the wicket looked less so after a very wet week and the Meigle skipper had no hesitation in inserting the visitors after winning the toss.
Jamie took the first wicket, enticing the visiting OA with a slow long hop which was scooped into the air and safely pouched by Rory at point.
Persil was continuing his fine early season form from the 'skippers hoose' end, and he was rewarded with 2 early wickets in a miserly spell of 9-2-14-2.
Louw and Reid put on 50 for the 4th wicket and Louw was looking particularly dangerous, pulling Morrison for two cracking boundaries, before he perished, one of Arun's 3 catches at gully, off the bowling of Den.
Arun ripped through the lower order to finish with 4-12, and Charlie also bowled a tidy spell at the back end of the innings.
The innings was notable in that Meigle took all of their chances, with no drops and a very impressive performance behind the timbers from Ally G. With his new found confidence and also hairstyle, his career can surely only go in '1direction'.

The tea interval served up the seasons first magnificent victoria sponge, with the ceremonial cutting honours going to Duncan, courtesy of his victory in the close season fantasy league.

Armed with the knowledge of how the pitch was behaving the Meigle openers followed the skippers instructions to the letter, although in truth the bowling was below SD's normal standard and the catching even worse.
With a 10 wicket victory in sight Denis foolishly tried to play a proper cricket shot and was caught for a well made 38 with 4 boundaries leaving the skipper to finish the job on 49 not out with 10 boundaries.

One of Meigle's most convincing victories in many years, outplaying their opponents in every fascet of the game, leading the visiting captain to claim that it was the toss that lost them the game! As they say in the States, 'Go figure'!
Anyway confidence was high leading into the Village cup game the following day...
