Meigle Cricket Club First XI v Arbroath on Sat 02 Jul 2011 at 1300
Meigle Cricket Club Won by 6 wkts

Match report Meigle welcomed second placed Arbroath to a sun kissed Victory Park on Saturday and upon winning the toss he home skipper decided to insert the visitors on a true looking pitch and lightning outfield.

With the Leese's away at SAS camp perfecting their waterboarding techniques, it was left to Deadly to take the new ball duties with Jamie. The pair bowled great lines and Deadly was rewarded with two wickets in as many balls to dimiss plomer and pedgrift, courtesy of a smart slip catch from Jamie.

The Arbroath innings stuttered along from there with Den and Arun bowling immaculate spells from the pavillion end and the youngsters chipping away at the other end wickets fell regularly thanks mainly to a near faultless performance from the Meigle fielders and a very tidy performance behind the timbers from Gilly.

Den ended up with 2-7 from his 9 overs with Arun taking 3-30. Fine catches were held by Scott, Gilly, Drummy(2) and A Trialist(2).

Meigle's youth policy sprung into action as Den and Arun opened up the innings. They set about the run chase in fine style dispatching the bad ball and working the others into the gaps combined with some (surprisingly) sensible running.

The pair had taken the total to 80 before Arun fell to visiting skipper Edwards' first delivery for well constructed 34. Den carried on the assault before he fell shortly after his second half century of the season.

Craig was next to depart for 18 including a lovely swept 6, and when Gilly fell soon after the innings was beggining to mirror that of last weeks chase and it was left to the skipper and his vice to see out the innings without further alarm and keep Meigle's fine home record of the past few seasons intact.

Overall a fine display from the home side which at times bordered on perfection, capped off by two tremendous allround performances from Deadly and Arun.

Dr Mo will be carrying out immunistations at training on tuesday to prevent any outbreak of 'Huntlyawayitis' which has been known to break out at this time of the season.
