Meigle Cricket Club Lost By 7 runs

Match report So near and yet so far. The team came very close to gaining our first win of the season in a tight game at home to doocot. Bowling first some great fielding and keeping had the visitors in strife at 5 for 3 before a sensible partnership between the Chalmers brothers rescued the innings. Meigle finished strong and more superb ground fielding resulted in 4 run outs for the home side, Doocot finishing on 81 with Fergus returning an impressive 3-4 spell with the ball.

The Meigle run chase got off to the ideal start with sensible batting, and running, Fergus and Josh put on 43 before Josh was bowled for 8 and then Fergus retired with an impressive 31 including 5 boundaries. Unfortunately the victors bowling improved as the innings went on and despite some valliant swinging from Aedan and Ross at the end, the home side ended 7 runs short.

The gap is shortening and improvements are being seen weekly as we chase that elusive first victory.
