The weather did not claim the game as it did all others in the Championship. Strathie have the PRD 3 Counties Cup finals day on Sunday but it was Meigle who were the victors on a grey day in East Perthshire. Skipper Farmer elected to bat and a solid start from Clark and Stewart in the face of good pace from Kiwi-loon Sean Wilkie and nagging l&l from Kris Grant meant a slow start. When SPCU Select all rounder Neave came to the crease the ante was upped. Some fine stroke play from Steve Knight and captain Farmer pushed things on, with a cameo from Duff before a calamatious final over saw hopes of 165+ wipe down out by some fine Strathie bowling and fielding. Strathie were positive in their batting. South African overseas star Chris Stevenson batted well as did his captain and SPCU Select keeper/batsman Matty Simpson. Denis Christie bowled a nagging l&l, rolling back the years, the multiple SPCU aggregate and average bowling cup winner of yesteryear complimented Farmers pace and tenacity. Roland Thorne bowled well as well as the Strathie wickets tumbled but a key turning point was a direct hit from Caledonia region U15 squad starlet Josh Edington to dismiss the always classy and a joy to watch, Nigel Hazel jnr. The Black and Golds keep the 25 points in BerryLand and wish the Strathie boys well in PRD finals day tomorrow. Stoneywood/Dyce are visitors to Victory Park next week.
