Meigle Cricket Club First XI v Royal High Corstorphine on Sat 01 Jun 2024 at 12.00
Meigle Cricket Club Won
Match report
Toss: RHC who elected to bowl first
Match ball sponsor: Oven Wizards
After battling monsoon conditions all week, the ground staff had Victory Park in fine condition for the visit of Corstorphine side RHC.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat, the Meigle openers were very watchful on their way to 26 without loss in the first 10 overs.
Harjeet was the first to depart, chipping one to square leg for 15 before Kasun played around a straight one 2 runs later.
The skipper joined Sriram and the pair built patiently before Sri feathered one behind to Gould looking to go over the top.
It wasn’t too long before Sami Ejaz departed in the same manner to leave the home side on 107-4.
Adi Hegde was in at 6 and the Scotland u19 starlet looked in fine touch as the two lefthanders put on the games most productive partnership, taking the score to 201 before Adi was dismissed for 32.
Zahid couldn’t reproduce last weeks heroics and didn’t trouble the scorers. Raju was next to go, having made an excellent 85 runs, all while battling a nasty calf injury.
Some late boundaries from Haseeb got the Meigle total up to a very competitive 230-9 at the interval.
With three 150plus scores already this season, Liam Naylor was the visitors danger man, and Meigle were delighted to dismiss him in the second over with Kasun taking a superb leaping catch at mid off from the bowling of Iain Stewart.
Sami then grabbed the wickets of Rane for 18 and Sahare for 19 to reduce RHC to 67-3.
Scotland u19 skipper Owen Gould was going well at the other end, and at 104-3 the visitors found themselves in the exact same position as the hosts had been in the first innings.
Gould hit Kasun for two huge sixes in a row, but perished looking for number three, as he skied one to Raju at mid on when he was on 44.
The introduction of spin was the turning point in the second innings as Adi (3), Kasun (2) and Murray Scott (2) took the last 7 wickets between them to bowl out the visitors for only 137.
Another fine all round performance from Meigle, which sees them win back to back EPL games for the first time.
