Meigle welcomed reigning champions Grange to a sunny Victory Park for the second time this season, looking to gain revenge for the earlier Scottish Cup defeat.
Raju won the toss and had no hesitation in batting on a good looking track.
Harjeet’s Braar got proceedings off to a blistering start, blasting 4 boundaries in a quick fire 18 before being bowled by Dharani.
New Sri Lankan overseas player Kasun Ekanayake was finding his rhythm at the other end and featured in handy partnerships with Sriram (18) and Raju before falling for a well made 43.
Raju found another willing partner in Alan Neave as he launched into a savage assault on the Grange bowlers in the middle overs, hitting 5 fours and 5 sixes before not quite getting a hold of a slog sweep and being caught at the deep mid wicket boundary for 76.
Just before Raju was out Meigle were well placed at 200-3 with 14 overs remaining and will have been a little disappointed that the lower order failed to really fire until a late cameo from Adi Hegde brought the final total up to 272-9.
The Grange reply got off to a solid start as Crawley and Carnegie took the total to 53 without loss from the opening 10 overs. The introduction of Adi Hegde into the attack swung the game in the home sides favour as he slid one past Crawley’s inside edge to bowl him for 23, before turning one past Carnegie’s outside edge to have him stumped on 29. When away skipper Angus Brown edged Hegde to Sriram at slip Grange were in trouble at 83-3 and a shock result looked a real possibility.
Ben Davidson joined Finn McCreath at the crease and the pair batted with a maturity well beyond their years as they manipulated the field with excellent placement and aggressive running against a home attack that appeared to run out of answers.
The pair took the score to 207 when Davidson was dismissed for 74 as Hegde returned to the attack. Hegde finishing with the excellent figures of 4-21 from his 10 overs.
The wicket proved to be a mere blip in the run chase however, as McCreath went through the gears to complete a superbly timed run chase with 4 balls remaining as he finished on an unbeaten 86.
A much closer contest than last weeks league encounter, but Meigle will need their bowling attack to find a bit more potency if they are to secure a first league win of the season next week at unbeaten Falkland.
