Captain's team win's golf day - annual Awards given out

13 Oct 2013

The 2013 golf day was played on 13th October, with a sunny morning giving way to a windy and grey afternoon. Persil's captain's team won the day, to reverse last years victory for Bill Morton's President's team up at Dalmunzie. Glenisla was the venue for the golf and food, before some darts at the Kinloch Arms.
The awards were also handed out after the golf, more of that later.

The captain's team sent out in the first pairing the no. 4 and 5 batting combo of Ralph & Tom Duff against the President's Seve/Jose-esque partnership of PCJ Drummond and young rugby sensation, and 2nd XI stalwart, Duncan Leese. The Captain's men won this rubber. Ralph won the closest the pin prize.

The second tie went the way of the President's, with guest Mark 'Sparky' Edwards playing sublime golf, with support from a trim looking Charlie Clark (liquid diet at RGU Fresher's week perhaps?!). PJ Drummond and Shepy lost out on this occasion, but PJD did win the longest drive prize.

The 'dual in the sun' between skipper and el Presidente became the 'battle to get in before the rain'. Despite a spirited fight back by Bill and his partner Chris Dickson, skipper Iain Stewart and Callum Leese ran out winners to give the captain the title.

The bacon rolls to start the day, darts in the Kinloch to end it - if Carlsberg did Meigle golf days.......it wouldn't be far off! (Well done to Charles for winning the darts).

Many thanks to club sponsors Peter M Drummond for supplying prizes.

Award winners are available on the 'Honours Board' on the left hand side of the website. A note to say Craig Morrison and Scott Boyer are to receive trophies marking their centuries in the season for the 2nds.
